MEET THE COACH
Nick Rouse grew up in a small town in Northwest Iowa, Emmetsburg. As a farm family, Nick developed a strong work ethic and a passion for sports. Baseball, football, wrestling, and track filled his days, instilling a love for physical fitness and competition.
After high school, Nick pursued his athletic dreams, playing football at Drake University and even coaching for a couple of years following graduation. However, his athletic pursuits didn't end there. He ventured into the world of MMA fighting, showcasing his grit and determination.
His passion for fitness has only grown over time, leading him to explore many styles of training: obstacle course training, Goruck training, Olympic-level training, and the art of Jiu-Jitsu.
Nick learned at a young age that for youth and young adults, where sports is a huge component in their lives, having a lack of focus can lead to bad decisions. Coming out of bad decisions himself, Nick began working with juvenile kids, inspiring them to embrace healthy habits and make positive choices. This experience ignited a passion for personal training, leading him to establish Spartan Strength in 2008.
Under his leadership, Spartan Strength flourished, expanding to two locations in 2012. However, in 2017, he made the difficult decision to close the gyms, shifting his focus to online personal training, and changing the name to Spartan Lifestyle.
Through his online platform, Spartan Lifestyle continues to empower individuals to transform their lives through spiritual growth, mindset shifts, and physical fitness. In their journey to living a life of health and wellness, Nick and Angie have learned the importance of sobriety and healthy relationships with others and themselves. They know the value of spiritual growth and a strong mindset towards nutritional eating and physical fitness. Prayer, study, nutrition, and exercise are not something they do, it is who they are in spirit, mind, and body.
Nick and Angie know that when the spirit, mind, and body are united, one can overcome adversity, find joy in life’s challenges, and accomplish the impossible. They firmly believe that a strong foundation of spiritual maturity and a positive mindset can pave the way for nutrition and fitness enabling individuals to thrive in all aspects of their lives.
Testimonials

“I had been doing CrossFit for a number of years but came to a point where I realized I needed more. Nick not only helped with fitness but also is one of the most knowledgeable people I know when it comes to nutrition and provides a long-term approach that not only provides results but is sustainable. Then you get into mindset, goals, etc. That is really where he has helped me become a better husband, father, employee, etc. by focusing on the little things with discipline”

"My mindset has changed since being in Spartan, in a couple of ways. I am now more deliberate with what I think or spend time thinking about. This has helped remove a lot of head trash I had. In addition, I have been journaling daily on things that I am grateful for and affirmations of things I believe about myself. This has helped me build more confidence and made me reflect on how many GOOD things happen every day!"
